My Movie Lists (MML) FAQ's
-
How many titles are in your database?
At the time of this writing there are
3,906 titles
but that number increases on a weekly basis.
-
How long does it take for corrections to be added to the website?
We appreciate the time users take to submit corrections. Because of
the vast amount of email that we receive, it can take quite awhile before
corrections show up on our website (up to six weeks). For corrections to the
MyMovieLists (MML) Database, please contact us at
BurnSoft Customer Support.
-
Where do you get all of your information from?
MML gets information from a variety of sources. We look for any
pertinent information available on the packaging of videos, promotional
materials, press releases, watching the movies, etc.
-
Do all the titles have separate reviews and synopses?
No. We try very hard to insure that almost every release has a synopsis. Films
that receive reviews tend to be of artistic or historic importance, or major
box office hits.
-
How do you determine a film's date?
The date the film was first released is the date we use. At times a release is
delayed by the studios, we then update the database to reflect the actual
release date. For a foreign film, we use the release date from the country of
origin.
-
How many cast/crew credits do you list?
We have
16,179 cast credits
in the database.
-
Why Pay for a monthly subscription when other movie
application only charge once? What
Make MML different from everything else?
All the other available movie collection applications are
installed and stored on your machine, so you would have to enter in all the
movies in your collection, including details about the movie manually.
If your machine crashed and you did not backup that information, then it
is lost and you have to start from scratch.
Some application will allow you to post it on the internet by creating a html
file for you to post on some website, but you would need to create a website if
you do not already own one. The
difference with MML is that it is not installed on your machine so if it
crashes then your movie collection is not lost.
Since MML is already web based, then friends and family can already view
your movie collection by using our quest login.
This allows them an easy view access of your collection and they can use
the “Request System” function to add movies that they want to borrow from you.
It’s more like a shopping cart without having to pay at the end.
There is also the wish list section where you can put the movies that
you want to add to your collection or check out, this wish list is also
viewable on the guest account so you can use this as a X-Mas or birthday list
as well. The fact that we
try to leave very little data entry for your, take care of the data, and allow
inventory control is why this a subscription service.
-
What if the MML database crashes?
The MML database is backed up daily and all the information is replicated to
two other servers on an hourly basis.
-
I’m still on Dial-up how is this useful to me?
We’ve taken in the account that not everyone is on a fast
access line, but think of it this way, you can manage your movies from anywhere
that is connected to the internet.
Your friends and family can still view your collection, and if you wanted to
view it, there is the MML Offline Viewer (MMLOV) that will allow you to
download your collection from the website on to this application that is
installed on your machine, so when you are not connected to the internet, you
can use the MMLOV to view and search your collection.
-
What if I have a movie that is not listed in your
database?
There is a section for registered users to add the movie Title and the Category
that is belongs in. The Title and
Category will be added to your list, and our staff will enter in the rest of
the details to the movie.
-
Is
there a version of the My Movie List OffLine Viewer (MMLOV) available for a
PDA?
The My Movie List Off-Line Viewer version 1.0 for PocketPC 2003 or greater is now available! Click here to view more details on this applications.
-
Will
the Subscription Prices Change and How am I affected by it?
Well of course the price are subject to change do the higher demand, but here
is the good part! Your Subscript cost will not change unless
you cancel your account then sign back up again. Then you are subject to
the new pricing, but unless that happens, you will still be charged the same
amount every time. So let say you signed up when it was $7.95 a month, a
year has pasted and we had to up the subscription price to $9.95 a month, since
you where with us when it was lower, you will only be charged $7.95 a month
compaired to those that signup at the new price. But if you really want
the new pricing, you can always cancel your subscription and sign back up.
-
How
many people are currently using this subscription service?
Currently we are serving
100 subscribers.
